Why cover is so hard to find at four o’clock
Sickness is unpredictable, but the nights you can least afford to be short are the nights every other house in town is short too. Everyone ends up ringing the same handful of people.

Door and security work is not listed
Door supervision is licensed: PSA in Ireland, SIA in the UK. Those checks are not something a same-day board should be the last line of defence on, so the role catalogue does not contain them and the listing form will not accept them.

Questions
Who employs the person who turns up?
The venue. Whoever works the shift goes on your books for those hours exactly as any other casual staff member, and is paid through your payroll. Shiftpint makes the introduction and keeps a record of the hours, the rate and who confirmed it.
What about right-to-work checks?
That obligation sits with the employer and does not change here. The plan is for Shiftpint to hold verified documents on each profile so you can check them before you confirm rather than at the door, but the check itself remains yours to make.
How is the radius worked out?
Straight-line distance between your chosen point and the venue, not driving time. A 10 km radius in central Dublin covers a lot more venues than 10 km in rural Kerry, so treat it as a rough filter and check the actual journey before you claim.
Can a venue mark its own shift as urgent?
No. Urgency is calculated from how long is left until the shift starts, so nobody can shout louder to move up the board. A shift within six hours is an emergency; within thirty-six hours it is urgent; anything further out is planned.
What if somebody does not turn up?
Tell us and we refund the fee for that placement. No-show history on profiles and venue ratings are coming; for now it is handled by email so nobody pays for a shift that went uncovered.
Does it work in Northern Ireland?
Yes, and the border is handled properly. Belfast and Derry venues list in sterling and sit in the UK region; venues in the Republic list in euro. If you work across the border you can watch both.
